Black Mountain National Park

The Black Mountain (Kalkajaka) National Park is located 25km from Cooktown and is distinctive with its hard granite boulders. These ‘Black Mountains’ were formed out of the magma that solidified under the Earth’s crust around 250 million years ago. It’s a pretty magnificent sight and well worth the car trip!
