Weather in Port Douglas is generally split into the 'wet season' and the 'dry season'.
Wet Season
The wet season is the summer period between December and February is when Port Douglas experiences high rainfall, thunderstorms and the occasional tropical cyclone. The average daytime temperature is around 31°C but it can feel like higher due to the high humidity. The trade-off for the hot sticky weather is the beautiful waterfalls that flow in full force around this time due to the high rainfall. Autumn is very similar to summer, just with less rainfall, and lasts until May.
Dry Season
The dry winter season is generally the more desirable time of year to visit, with lower temperatures, less rainfall and lower humidity. The average daily temperature is 26°C with sunny days and cool nights. The dry winter season lasts from June to August. Spring is similar to autumn with steadily rising temperatures heading towards the long hot and humid summer.
